Video: Florida Man Receives Unjustifiable Custody Ruling

A local news site out of Hernando County, Fla. recently highlighted one man’s case of injustice while going through a custody dispute. Michael Cichon, of Spring Hill, Fla., who had intended to cohabitate in the family home throughout his divorce process, was ordered by the judge at his first hearing to vacate the residence within 24 hours. Additionally, Cichon has been limited to strict visitation with his children — he is not even allowed on their school’s property — and given an unaffordable temporary support requirement. The reasons behind such harsh judgments are still unclear.

Without a history of any kind of abuse, there doesn’t seem to be any reason for the court’s decision.  Some possible explanations are speculated; however, there doesn’t seem to be any solid justification for such restrictive constraints to be placed on his parenting. Not to mention that less than two weeks after he was forced to leave, his wife was arrested for assaulting him — within sight of the children no less. She has retained custody after the arrest.

With a new hearing set for next week, hopefully some light will be shined on the rationalization behind the court’s decisions.

Cases like this serve to exemplify the many hurdles men can face while going through divorce. While situations like this are probably not commonplace, challenges exist in many forms — including enigmatic reasoning behind judgements that significantly affect your life. If you find yourself in a predicament like Cichon’s, don’t overreact, and contact an experienced domestic litigation attorney immediately. There are never any guarantees when it comes to family law, but that is your best shot for seeking justice.
