Ideally, if you are a guy you will have some prior indication from your wife that divorce is a possibility. In that case, there are steps you can take to protect yourself and your most important assets.
However, many men are caught completely by surprised when they are served with divorce papers. Mr. Trout and Ms. Zielinski go over how best to handle that sort of situation.
