This week, Cordell & Cordell principal partner Joe Cordell was interviewed by Forbes regarding the recent billion-dollar divorce of Continental Resources founder Harold Hamm. The interview centered around not only the enormous settlement, but also the interesting legal arguments made by both sides. Dad’s Divorce published a new article covering four problems with the current child support system in the United States, which is incredibly outdated. Having been established almost 40 years ago, the current system focuses entirely too much on enforcement and instead of getting fathers involved in their children’s lives and is particularly tough on low-income fathers. Additionally, the stereotypical “deadbeat dad” is more myth than fact, but has nevertheless spawned stricter enforcement practices that make it difficult on fathers.

Men’s Divorce posted a new Attorney Bites video emphasizing the importance of timeliness when it comes to showing up to scheduled court appearances. New York family law attorney Rochelle Cavanagh explains that judge’s schedules are incredibly tight to due the overworked court system, making it extremely important to show up on time — even if you are made to wait for hours after your appointed time.
